Forgotten Rainbow

by Jeff Lewis

FOREWORD

Fall in coastal California is often forgotten, ignored, even mocked. All of us have joked about it. I now believe that is a mistake.

It’s true, we don’t get mountainsides carpeted in fiery rainbows like New England. It’s true, we don’t get miles of yellow like the aspen and larch carpets of the mountain West. But it’s not true that we have nothing worth experiencing.

For many years I have had a tradition of traveling far and wide for fall colors. I didn’t stay home this year by choice, but by necessity. Life got in the way of living, fall travel plans fell through, work, pet, commitments.

As with spring scenes, once I began to scratch the surface of what I had in my backyard, my desire to travel far away started to fade…

A Bay Area fall experience doesn’t hit you. It seeps into you. There are very few “trophies” to collect. There are only smaller scenes to interpret. But those scenes are nearly endless.

Similar to my experience, this album won’t hit you; it’ll seep into you. Let’s slow down and take a visual stroll together. Never know what we’ll find.
